How we collect, use, and protect your information. Plain language. No surprises.
Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what information JalYantra collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and what control you have over it.
We collect information you provide directly to us — for example, when you create an account, use the app, or contact support. This may include your name, email address, phone number, business name, GSTIN, and delivery address.
We automatically collect certain information when you use JalYantra, including your IP address, device identifiers, operating system, app version, and usage data such as which features you use and when.
We collect information about the water-distribution transactions you record in the app — delivery schedules, jar counts, billing records, and payment history — so we can provide our services.
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve JalYantra — including tracking deliveries, generating bills, and sending reminders on your behalf.
We use your contact information to send you service-related notifications, including delivery updates, billing reminders via WhatsApp, and important account information.
We use aggregated and anonymised data to analyse usage trends, improve the platform, and develop new features that better serve our users.
We use your information to respond to inquiries, provide customer support, and resolve disputes or troubleshoot problems.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. Ever.
We may share your information with trusted service providers who help us run JalYantra — for example, cloud hosting providers, payment processors, and communication services such as Meta (WhatsApp Cloud API). These partners are contractually bound to use your information only to provide services to us.
We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request — or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control.
We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. We use TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, and strict role-based access controls.
That said, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We regularly review and update our security practices to ensure the ongoing confidentiality and integrity of your information.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services.
We may retain certain information for a longer period as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and for legitimate business purposes.
When your data is no longer needed, we will securely delete or anonymise it. If you cancel your account, you'll have read-only access to all your data for 90 days for export purposes — after which it is permanently deleted, or sooner on request.
To delete your account at any time, see our Account Deletion guide — it covers the in-app steps, an email-based path if you've uninstalled the app, and exactly what is removed (within 30 days) versus what we're legally required to retain (anonymised financial records for 7 years under the Income Tax Act / GST).
You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information at any time — through your account settings or by contacting us.
You may opt out of receiving promotional communications by following the unsubscribe instructions in those messages. You will still receive essential service-related communications.
You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to request correction of any inaccurate information.
If you wish to delete your account and associated data, please email [email protected] and we will process your request within 30 days.
Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience, analyse usage patterns, and remember your preferences.
You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some functionality of our platform.
We may use third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics) that use cookies to help us understand how users interact with our website. These services collect data only in aggregate, anonymised form.
Our platform may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not operated by us. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party websites or services you visit through links from JalYantra.
Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors.
We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on our website and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. Your continued use of our services after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
